The short version
- Earn: $5 per game won, +$15 per series, +$10 for a sweep, +$20 for beating a higher-rated team. A clean sweep of a higher-rated team is $65.
- Interest: $1 per $5 held at each series win, capped at $10 (so $50 banked is the ceiling; more earns nothing).
- Cheapest OVR: ๐๏ธ Training Camp, $40 for +2 on one player (up to +4 per player). On a starter that is $20 per point of that player, about $120 per Squad OVR point.
- ๐ Insurance Policy ($125) is the one item that stops a run from ending. Buy it at Shop 2 if you have not already.
- Shops are on layers 4 and 8, plus one at the start of Overtime.

How cap space is earned
| Event | Cap space |
|---|---|
| Each game won (ticks up live during the series) | $5 |
| Series won | +$15 |
| Sweep (4-0) | +$10 |
| Upset (beat a higher-rated team) | +$20 |
| Interest at each series win | +$1 per $5 held, max $10 |
A 4-0 sweep is $35 plus interest; a 4-3 grind is $35 too (four wins is four wins) but no sweep bonus. Upsets are where drafts that start low make their money: an 85 squad beating an 88 pays $20 extra, and ๐ข Hype Man triples that to $60.
By Shop 1 (after three series) a normal run has roughly $110 to $150. By Shop 2 (after six) roughly $250 to $320 total earned, minus whatever you spent.
Interest: why banking has a ceiling
Interest pays $1 for every $5 you are holding when a series ends, but never more than $10. So the value of holding cash rises until $50 and then stops. Practical rule: never carry more than $50 out of a shop unless you are saving for Insurance. Every dollar above $50 earns nothing and buys nothing until the next shop. ๐ฆ Platinum Card raises the cap to $20 (worth banking $100); Banner III halves it. ๐ฐ Deep Pockets is the only relic that makes cash itself a win lever (+1% per $25 held, capped +4%).
Every shop item
| Item | Price | Limit | Effect | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ๐ Insurance Policy | $125 | Once per run | Rewinds to the game that ended your run and re-simulates the series from there. | Mandatory before the finals. Not sold under Banner V. |
| ๐๏ธ Training Camp | $40 | Twice per player (+4 max) | +2 OVR to one player (+3 with ๐๏ธ Practice Facility). | Best value in the shop. Put it on starters, not the 6th man. |
| โญ Prime Boost | $55 | Once per player | Upgrades one player to his best-ever card, minimum +4. | Great on a star whose prime is far above his current card; check the preview. |
| ๐ฐ Free-Agent Wheel | $50 | Repeatable | Scouts your weakest seat and only offers players who beat the incumbent. No upgrade available = no sale, and you are not charged. | Strong when one seat is dragging you down. |
| โจ Relic Wheel | $65 ($33 with ๐ช Matryoshka) | Repeatable | Every card is a relic, at spoils-wheel odds, minus what you own. | Worth it at Shop 1 with an empty bag; rarely at Shop 2. |
| ๐๏ธ Second-Stop Token | $35 | Once | Your next victory wheel gets two STOPs; keep the better. | Good before an ELITE fight. |
| ๐ Coach Carousel | $25 | Repeatable | Respin the coach seat. | The cheapest OVR in the game if your coach is under +2; also upgrades your Manager's Card tier. |
| ๐๏ธ Home Court Deed | $45 | Once | Flips the 2-2-1-1-1 pattern so games 1, 2, 5 and 7 are in your building, with +3% in each. | Strong at Shop 1: it applies to every remaining series. |
| ๐ Draft Workout | $30 | Once | Spin a prospect wheel (68-78 band); the rookie gains +1 per game you win. | Only with ๐ Player Development, or as a 6th man on a long run. |
Prices move with relics and banners: ๐ซ Season Tickets takes 25% off everything, Banner II adds 20%, and some GMs change specific items.
๐ชช Rent-A-Ring-Chaser
Game 7 only, $100. A mercenary rated 90 or better (legends included, all at equal odds) fills your weakest eligible seat for that single game, then leaves whatever happens. It is expensive and it is exactly the button you want at 3-3 against the Bulls. The money counted is your spendable total, banked plus what you have earned in the series so far. (In the NFL edition the Ring-Chaser knocks at halftime instead.)
What a Squad OVR point costs
| Purchase | Squad OVR gained | Cost per Squad point |
|---|---|---|
| Training Camp on a starter | +2 on one of six weighted seats โ +0.35 | about $115 |
| Training Camp on the 6th man | +2 ร 0.75 โ +0.26 | about $155 |
| Coach Carousel from a 0 coach to a +4 | +4 (flat) | about $6 per point, if the spin lands |
| Prime Boost, +4 minimum on a starter | โ +0.7 | about $80 |
| Free-Agent Wheel replacing an 80 with a 90 at one seat | โ +1.7 | about $30 |
That table is the whole shop strategy: fix the coach first, fix a bad seat with the Free-Agent Wheel second, then Prime your star, then Camps. Win chance items (Home Court Deed, Insurance) sit outside the table because they do not add OVR; they add probability directly.
A sample spend plan
- Shop 1 (~$130): Coach Carousel if the coach is under +2 ($25). Home Court Deed ($45). One Training Camp on your best starter ($40). Bank the rest (interest on $20 is $4).
- Shop 2 (~$200 after Shop 1): Insurance ($125). Training Camps with everything left ($40 each). Walk in with $0 to $15.
- Overtime shop: Insurance again if you used it, Prime Boost on the star, Camps to the cap.
Other editions
MLB and NHL use the same shop with sport-flavored names. NFL pays per quarter won and its Insurance rewinds to halftime. UFC pays $5 per round won and $25 per fight, with a Round-1 finish counting as a sweep; the Insurance analog is the ๐งด Legendary Cutman, who knocks between rounds after Round 2 if you are behind on the cards.
Questions people ask
How much does Insurance cost in GOAT Squad?
$125, once per run. It rewinds to the game that ended your run and re-simulates the series from there. Banner V removes it from the shop.
How does interest work in GOAT Squad?
At each series win you earn $1 for every $5 held, capped at $10. Holding more than $50 earns nothing extra.
What is the best thing to buy in the GOAT Squad shop?
Coach Carousel if your coach is weak (a +4 coach is +4 Squad OVR for $25), then the Free-Agent Wheel for a bad seat, then Training Camp on starters. Insurance before the finals regardless.
How much cap space do you earn per series?
$5 per game won plus $15 for the series, plus $10 for a sweep and $20 for an upset, plus interest. A sweep of a higher-rated team is $65 before interest.
What is Rent-A-Ring-Chaser?
A $100 Game 7 rental: a player rated 90 or better fills your weakest seat for that one game and then leaves.
