The short version
- The daily uses a shared seed: every player worldwide sees the exact same sequence of cards for that date.
- You get one attempt. Power-ups are allowed unless a quest says otherwise.
- It resets at midnight UTC (8pm Eastern / 5pm Pacific during US summer time).
- Streaks count across all sports. Miss a day and the streak breaks unless you have a streak freeze.
- Three daily quests (75 / 150 / 300 XP, plus 150 for all three) are also the same for everyone.

How the seed works
A normal build is a random reel. The daily challenge fixes the randomness to the calendar date, so the reel, the order of the cards and the neighbors you can Snag are identical for every player on Earth that day. When you compare your daily OVR to the person above you on the board, you are comparing decisions, not luck.
That has a practical consequence: the daily can be studied. Because the sequence is fixed, everyone who plays it later in the day has seen what the early players posted. The Daily Challenge board on Ranks shows the top builds with their slot picks expanded, so you can see which card the leaders put where before your one attempt.
One attempt
You get exactly one run per game per day. There is no retry. The build you finish is the build that posts. If you close the page mid-build, that still counts as your attempt, so start the daily when you have three uninterrupted minutes.
Reset time and rotation
- The day flips at 00:00 UTC. In the US that is the evening of the previous day (8pm ET / 5pm PT in summer, 7pm ET / 4pm PT in winter), which is why a "new daily" appears before dinner.
- Sports with two build games alternate: baseball runs Pitcher one day and Batter the next; soccer alternates Striker and Keeper. Basketball, football, college, hockey, combat, golf and racing each run every day.
Streaks
Completing any game's daily keeps your streak alive; the streak is shared across all of GoatLab, so you do not need to play the same sport every day. The flame badge shows the current run and your best ever. A streak freeze (a power-up you can hold) saves the streak once when you miss a day.
Daily quests
Every day, the whole world draws the same three quests: one Easy (75 XP), one Medium (150 XP), one Hard (300 XP). Complete all three for a Clean Sweep bonus of 150 XP. Quests can be finished in any game unless they name a mode.
| Tier | Examples |
|---|---|
| Easy | Opening Statement (finish an 85+ build) · Touch of Greatness (assign a Legend) · Ring Season (sim a championship) · No Dead Weight (every slot 70+) · Bag of Tricks (use all three power-ups) · Doubleheader (sim two careers) · Gladiator (win a 1v1) |
| Medium | Architect (91+ OVR) · No Weak Links (every slot 80+) · Immortalized (a Hall of Fame career) · Diamond Mine (six or more 85+ cards) · Hat Trick (three 1v1 wins) · Big Contract ($500M career earnings) · Two-Sport Star (85+ in two different games) · Double Vision (two Legends in one build) · Back-to-Back (2+ rings) · Daily Sharp (85+ on the daily, one attempt) · Flying Blind (85+ in Hard Mode) |
| Hard | Masterpiece (96+ OVR) · Flawless (every slot 85+) · Unanimous (Hall of Fame with 99%+ of the vote) · Pentakill (five 1v1 wins) · Heater (three 1v1 wins in a row) · Trinity (three Legends) · Daily Dominance (90+ on the daily) · Dynasty (4+ rings) · Billion Dollar Day ($1B career earnings) · Purist (90+ OVR with zero power-ups) |
Quests worth planning around
- Purist (90+ with no power-ups) is the one most people fail by reflex. Decide before the first spin that Re-spin, Snag and Boost are off limits, and be willing to accept a slightly lower slot rather than break the rule on slot eight.
- Flying Blind rewards knowing the pool. In Build a Baller, the players who anchor the top all-time builds (Curry in 3-Pointer, Kyrie in Dribble, Wembanyama in Defense) are the ones to trust when the numbers are hidden. The best-builds page is effectively a Hard Mode cheat sheet.
- Daily Sharp / Daily Dominance are the reason to check the Ranks board before your attempt. The leaders have already shown you where the good cards are.
- Two-Sport Star is easiest in a sport you rarely play: the pool is fresh to you but the loop is the same.
Coins from the daily
Signed-in players earn Goat Coins for their first valid daily run each day. Guests still get the board and the XP; the coins need an account because the wallet lives on the server.
Questions people ask
What time does the GoatLab daily reset?
Midnight UTC. That is 8pm Eastern / 5pm Pacific during US daylight time, and 7pm Eastern / 4pm Pacific in winter.
Does everyone really get the same cards?
Yes. The daily reel is seeded from the date, so every player worldwide sees the same sequence of players, in the same order, with the same neighbors available to Snag.
Can I retry the daily?
No. One attempt per game per day. Closing the page mid-build still uses the attempt.
Do I have to play the same sport every day to keep my streak?
No. Any game's daily keeps the streak alive; it is shared across the whole site.
Are power-ups allowed in the daily?
Yes, unless a quest you are chasing forbids them (Purist). Everyone has the same power-ups available, so it stays fair.
